The honest one

This is the trip people research for a year.

Five regions. Dozens of "must-do" lists that contradict each other. Roads Google can't be trusted on, parks that sell out weeks ahead, and one very important rule about driving after dark. It's a lot — which is exactly why most people never get past the browser tabs.

I've done the loop. I wrote down everything — including my mistakes — so your version goes perfectly.

Why this guide is different

It admits its mistakes. I waited too long to book Manuel Antonio and missed it. I did the same with Corcovado — the crown jewel — and missed that too. A scorpion fell out of my pajamas because nobody warned me about the shoe rule.

It's all in the guide: what I got right, exactly as I did it — and what I got wrong, with the fix, so your trip goes better than mine did. No other guide will tell you that.

You could spend a year researching this loop. Or you could just… have it.

Questions, answered

FAQ

Is ten days too ambitious? It looks like a lot of driving.

It's a loop, not a sprint — no drive is repeated, most are 2–3 hours through gorgeous scenery, and the two long days are flagged with exactly when to leave. You unpack properly in three places (3 nights, 1, 3) instead of living out of the car.

What about rainy season?

Rainy season runs May 1 – November 30, and the guide is built for it — big hikes in the mornings, the exact rain gear that works, and honestly, the cloud forest is at its most magical in the mist.

Do I really need a 4WD?

Yes — and on this route it's non-negotiable (the Monteverde road and the last 30 minutes to Lapa Rios have opinions). The guide tells you which rental company treated me best.

Is it solo-friendly? Couples? Families?

All three. I've done Costa Rica solo — the tours are guided and social. Couples: Lapa Rios is basically a honeymoon. Families: kids love the ziplines, crocodile bridge, and beaches; the guide flags what to swap.

How is this different from the 5-Day guide?

Different trips entirely! The 5-Day is the perfect first taste (Poás volcano, Peace Lodge, waterfalls, La Fortuna). The 10-Day is the full loop — cloud forest, quetzals, both coasts' greatest hits, and the Osa Peninsula. Plenty of travelers grab both: same country, two completely different adventures.

What if I don't love it?

Email me within 30 days and I'll refund every penny — and you keep the guide. I only want your money if it genuinely made your trip better.

Your next big trip could be THE trip.

The quetzals are already in the cloud forest. The hot springs are already warm. The only thing missing is you.
